Art Projects:

WEEK 1- SOLAR SYSTEM PAINTINGS

Become a galaxy explorer! Students will explore different types of planets, their order in the cosmos and what they look like. You will interpret and paint a vibrant and colourful solar system painting. Emphasis on imagination, size variation, repetition, and texture.

WEEK 2- SEEING: STILL LIFE WATERCOLOUR PAINTING

Seeing what is REALLY in front of you is the first step to understanding high realism art. Students will have the opportunity to practice their skills by drawing what they SEE. This is an important stage of art skill development that is not always achieved naturally- it takes careful guidance. Emphasis will be on focusing, contour line drawing, texture, line variation, value, shadows, and watercolour techniques.

WEEK 3- LOUISE NEVELSON INSPIRED ASSEMBLAGE ART

Modern Art recognizes the value of Assemblage as an art form. Students will learn about American sculptor, Louise Nevelson, and found object art. Imagine being able to create art works from things found around your home? Emphasis will be on using recycled materials, monochromatic colour scheme, size variation, building, and composition.
