WEEK 1 - TELL A ‘YARN’ ART

Do you have a favourite hand knit sweater? Working with yarn as an art form is the first step in learning all about the versatility of yarn! Students will experiment with design and line while creating a non-representational piece of art made of yarn. Explore colour design, pattern variety, and composition.

WEEK 2 - STORY WATERCOLOUR PAINTINGS

You will create a story scene using step by step events with a variety of methods including a series of actions or time: shown through change of season, stages of growth, etc. Tell your favourite story or make up your own through a “series” of drawing/paintings, contour lines, detail, watercolour layering/washes. This is a great introduction to creating story book illustrations!

WEEK 3 - HOO! HOO! THE WISE OWL NEWSPAPER COLLAGE

We’ve all heard that Owls are wise and smart. How did they get that way? By reading and listening to books, newspapers, radio, magazines, movies, and TV etc. The result? An amazing mind. By creating a mixed media collage of an owl, students will learn how shapes can resemble more complex images making them easily identifiable. Discover comparing, contrasting and expression.
