Art Jam age 8-13 years.

Dates: Saturdays from May 23 - June 13, 2020

Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Location: Collingwood Public Library in the Free Schools Literacy Room

Art Projects:

WEEK 1 - 3D SELF PORTRAITS

Participants will have an opportunity for creative self expression with these self portraits in 3D! Problem solving will be part of this creative process as participants plan how their artwork will be connected once their sculpture is pieced together. Words, collage, paint and texture making will enhance these abstract portrait sculptures. Emphasis on cohesive design, unity, 3D design, space, balance and symmetry, creating a focal point.

WEEK 2 - PETE CROMER BIRD COLLAGE

Students will learn about Australian artist, Pete Cromer and his collage animal portraits. Students will create a bird collage in the style of Pete Cromer by creating a series of hand painted papers which will be cut out and glued to create their birds. Emphasis on design elements, shape, colour, texture and pattern.

WEEK 3 - MOSAIC COLOUR THEORY TREE

Participants will have the opportunity to create a hand drawn tree with sun using a grid system to create a mosaic inspired illustration. Emphasis on warm/cool colours schemes, proportion, composition, focal points.

WEEK 4 - DEL KATHRYN BARTON INSPIRED PORTRAITS

Students will learn about Australian artist, Del Kathryn Barton’s artwork only to draw and paint a portrait in the style of Barton. A portrait within a dreamlike environment will be created by incorporating sparkles and sequins into their artwork. Emphasis on exaggerated proportion, colour theory, size variation, repetition, line, positive/negative space, paint techniques.
