Art Jam age 8-13 years.

Dates: Saturdays from Oct 19 - Nov 9, 2019

Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Location: Collingwood Public Library in the Free Schools Literacy Room

Art Projects:

WEEK 1 - BROWN BAG CITY SCULPTURES

Participants will create a free standing upcycled cityscape landscape using brown grocery bags. Skyscrapers and buildings will be formed by cutting, painting and adding architectural elements collage, paint or pastel. Emphasis on size variation, shape, symmetry, asymmetry, pattern, design and colour.

WEEK 2 - FRANZ MARC INSPIRED BLUE HORSE

Participants will learn about German artist, Franz Marc and the Expressionism movement.  Franz Marc’s work, Blue Horse, students will be shown to artists to help learn to draw the figure of a horse and act as a guide to create a Franz Marc inspired soft pastel illustration. Emphasis on cool colours, colour blending, figure drawing, colour contrast, highlights and lowlights using soft pastel.

WEEK 3 - BOTTLE BIRD PAPER MACHE

Artists will use their imaginations to create these wild and colourful birds! Participants will use paper mache to create a three-dimensional bird sculpture using recycled, found objects (bottles), tinfoil and newsprint.  Emphasis on form, movement, balance, proportion, colour, design, and pattern.  Day 1: Create sculpture and paper mache.

Week 4 - BOTTLE BIRD PAPER MACHE… continued

Artists will use their imaginations to create these wild and colourful birds! Participants will use paper mache to create a three-dimensional bird sculpture using recycled, found objects (bottles), tinfoil and newsprint.  Emphasis on form, movement, balance, proportion, colour, design, and pattern.  Day 2: Paint sculptures.
