It is time to get your artwork ready for the upcoming 2017 Magic of Children in the Arts Show. Children who live in the Collingwood and Clearview region are eligible to participate. Open to age 4-13 years old. We are celebrating Canada'[s 150th Birthday in 2017. Our themes will for artwork will reflect how the children feel about Canada.
The rules are simple!
If you live in Collingwood or Clearview Township you can enter the show on your own or through your school if they are participating. Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, home-schooled children and any club members are eligible.
There is no cost to participate.
1. Create your artwork
Choose from one of the following themes
1. Imagine: Our Future Habitat
2. Imagine: Your Portrait in the Future
3. Imagine: Your Favorite Things About Canada
4. Imagine: Your Imaginary Canadian Creature
Maximum including mounting is 16x20 inches. Sculpture is 8 x 8 x 10 inches.
Paint, crayon, pastel, collage, mixed media, coloured pencil etc.
FREE Art Workshop Option
You may choose ONE FREE art workshop. Open to Kindergarten through Grade 8 students, Collingwood and Clearview residents. Registration is required.
The Collingwood Public Library in the Free Schools World Literacy Community Room.

Return of your artwork
Artwork will be returned to your school after April 28th. Home schooled children can pick up their artwork at the Library front desk until May15, 2017.
2. Artist’s statement
Tell us about your artwork. Tell a story! Detach the Artist’s Statement form in this brochure and secure it to the front of your artwork in the bottom right corner.
ALSO write your name, grade, school & phone
number on the BACK of your artwork.
Tip: The Artist’s Statement is a chance for you to explain what is going on in your picture. Use your imagination! Tell a story.

3. Drop off your artwork
Artwork can be mounted on paper, bristol board or matted, but not framed. Canvas is also accepted. Maximum size is 16x20 inches.

4. Visit the show
Bring your family and friends to see the show during regular library hours.
Monday-Thursday: 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday: 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The artwork is displayed throughout the library and organized by grade. A handy map is available at the front desk.
Schools are welcome to plan a class trip to see the artwork. Contact the library to make arrangements. 705-445-1571.
5. New * Press Gallery
The grades 7 and 8 art exhibition is moving to the Press Gallery, across the street from the library to the Simcoe Theatre at 65 Simcoe St, Collingwood, ON
This opportunity will give your age group a more mature experience in a professional gallery setting.
We encourage all grade 7 and 8 students to submit artwork to ensure a robust exhibition at the Press Gallery.
A separate art opening is planned April 22 during the Earth Day celebration with entertainment and hors d’oeuvres.
